In a tradition dating back to 1983, the Small Business Council of America (SBCA) holds an annual Congressional Awards Reception at the U.S. Capitol honoring members of Congress and the small business community.
The Congressional Awards Reception features the presentation of the following awards:
- The SBCA Congressional Awards, presented to a bi-partisan selection of Senators and Representatives, in recognition of their efforts, expertise and advocacy on small business issues of importance to the SBCA;
- The SBCA Humanitarian of the Year Award, recognizing a small business owner (or family member) who has gone above and beyond in committing his or her time or support to charitable activities that make the world a better place for people in need;
- The SBCA Mort Harris Small Business Person of the Year Award presented to a small business owner in recognition of his or her outstanding accomplishments and support of small business principles;
- The SBCA Connie Murdoch Award, presented to an SBCA member in recognition of outstanding leadership, dedication and achievement on behalf of SBCA during the preceding year.
