Dear SBCA Members,
As we embark on what will certainly be an interesting and exciting final quarter of 2024, we wanted to make sure that everyone is formally acquainted with the SBCA’s new leadership team.
As previously announced, in May, Paula Calimafde (Lerch Early, Bethesda, MD) stepped down from her position as the long time Chair of the SBCA. At the 2024 Congressional Awards Reception, Paula was presented with a Special Recognition Award in honor of her unparalleled dedication and service to the SBCA. Paula is continuing her work with the SBCA in the role of Senior Policy Director and Chair Emerita. Gary Kushner (Kushner & Company, Portage, MI), who previously served as the SBCA’s President, has taken on the mantle of SBCA Chair. Matthew Kadish (Franz Ward, Cleveland, OH) has been appointed SBCA President and Karen Rotgin (The Rotgin Law Firm, Uniondale, NY) will serve as the SBCA’s CEO. Hailing from different parts of the country (just like our membership), Gary, Matt and Karen are each all-stars in their respective fields and bring unique specialties and areas of expertise to the SBCA. Their shared trait is their long standing and unwavering commitment to the SBCA and its members. As in the past, the SBCA’s mission will continue to be to protect small and closely-held businesses in the business, tax and employee benefits in the federal arena. We are thrilled and thankful to have this fantastic team leading our group.
Also on our major policy team, we are fortunate to have Jessica Summers (Lerch Early, Bethesda, MD) continuing in her role as Strategic Policy Director and David Crow (DCLRS, Washington, DC) continuing on as our outside legislative consultant.
Rounding out the SBCA’s leadership group are:
- Charles Johnson – Treasurer
- Alex Brucker – Co-Vice President, National Sponsors/President SBCA-PAC
- Michael Anderson – Vice President, Communications/Co-Vice President, National Sponsors
- Christina Woskobojnik – Vice President, Membership
- Elise Feldman – Secretary

The SBCA is powered by its dedicated leadership and committed members and is truly grateful of the for the contributions of each and all of you.
